They're very active little guys and they're always looking for someway to run and climb and wheels serve both these purposes, so they're all together great toys for a mouse.

Plastic wheels are noisy, and many mice will go to the bathroom in the wheel. They will then stop using the wheel because it is dirty and smelly for some reason. Wire wheels still need a wipe and rinse weekly, but you don't have to pick dried poop off of it with your fingernails.
