Because fungi is usually found on the bottom of people's feet or in between their toes, and as fungi thrives in cool, damp environments, public showers are a prime habitat for such nasties! Always wear shoes in public bathrooms, showers, and change rooms! Athletes foot is a common example of a fungi which is highly contagious and is exceptionally difficult to get rid of, the most common way of getting 'athletes foot' is by going barefoot in public showers and change rooms, usually in gyms! ew.
