Why do most computers no longer come with the 3 and a half floppy drive?

With the use of flash drives becoming standard the floppy drive is becomming obsolete just like the cassette deck or VCR. Most consumers are looking to get a good computer for a cheap price thus removing unessesary part like a floppy drive that most do no use anymore is a good way to make the computer more affordable. I believe that with Dell you can still have one added but its just not a standard feature anymore. Flash drives have many advantages over floppy drives and they continue to hold more info and become less expensive. Not to mention in a world where the internet is loaded with all types of media, a floppy disk would not hold very much as far as video or audio files.

Why computer has not B drive?
The A: and B: drives on a desktop computer are reserved in the BIOS for floppy disk drives. As most computers only come with one floppy disk drive only the A: drive will be visible in file explorer. If a second floppy disk drive is fitted then both A: and B: drives will be visible. Computers used to have a B: drive. It was the second floppy drive. Since people no longer copy from one floppy to another, the B: drive (and on some newer models the A: drive) has become obsolete.

A computer tech store should be able to help load the pictures off of a floppy disc. After the pictures have been uploaded to the computer and reloaded on a CD the pictures can be print anywhere that prints pictures.

The error codes for floppy drives are 60x with 601 being the A: drive and 602 being the B: drive. Those errors most often come up when the data cable is disconnected or not fully seated to the back of the floppy drive. If the cable is installed upside down (which can happen), then the drive will spin and spin while the computer generates that 601 or 602 error code. Just disconnect the cable, turn it the other way, and the drive should then work normally.

If it's a first generation Air the you should make sure the drive is compatible as some of the drives weren't working at the time they came out. Apple actually sells a fairly cheap external USB DVD drive that is geared towards the newer computers that no longer come with an internal CD/DVD drive.
