Unlike China, Hong Kong maintains a capitalist government, grants more basic rights, and has little to no government intervention. Most immigrants from China travel to Hong Kong to escape the Chinese communist government.

The relationship concerning Immigration between Hong Kong and China can be best compared to the United States and Mexico. Chinese immigrants were flooding the already full Hong Kong, an island with a population of over 7 million at a rate of 45,000 immigrants a year. The Hong Kong government soon implemented a safeguard to the immigration system, permitting only 150 Chinese immigrants with family ties daily, entrance to Hong Kong.

It could be the food, the culture, the environment. Their family might live there so they want to be with their family. They might be married to someone from Taiwan. There are many reasons why someone would choose to live in Taiwan.

Why do people move anywhere? People have different reasons for moving to a place and Taiwan is no exception. It could be because they were born in America but their parents were Taiwanese so they wanted to go back to the country their family is from. They could love the food, the culture, the environment of Taiwan. They could want to become famous in Taiwan. They could be married to someone from Taiwan. There is so many different reasons that people move to Taiwan there is not one deciding factor for everyone.
