Because a Democracy is the best form of government hands down. In a Democracy, people have freedom, people can speak freely, people have rights. Unlike in other countries where they have to believe what everybody else believes and they can only have one child and everything.

People want democracy in their country because it allows for equal representation and participation in decision-making, promotes accountability and transparency in government, safeguards human rights, and fosters political stability and peaceful transitions of power. Democracy gives citizens a voice in shaping the policies that affect their lives and creates a system of checks and balances to prevent abuse of power.

On top of that, people probably like the feeling that they actually can influence how their country is being run.
