Personification.
D. Giving human qualities to nonhuman things
Why People Believe Weird Things was created in 1997.
To compare two unlike human and nonhuman things
It's called personification.
Personification is the type of figurative language in which a nonhuman subject is given human characteristics.
People can believe all kinds of things but without proof or some evidence, how do we know it is true at all?
People in England are from may diverse cultures and believe in a great variety of things.
They believe in superstition to explain things that they do not know how to explain.
The reason that people believe in things that aren't real can differ from person to person. People are highly swayed by superstitions and by religious culture. If a person is raised to believe something, they may believe it their whole life, whether it's real or not.
Giving nonhuman obects/animals human characteristics is called personification.
I believe the type of figurative language in which an inanimate object is given human characteristics is anthropomorphism.
