Sasha is her nickname. For whatever reason, she seems to prefer it, and even her parents use it when referring to her. Having a nickname is not unusual: many kids don't like the name their parents gave them, so they find some other name they want to be called. To cite a well-known example, in high school, Barack Obama didn't like his birth name and wanted to be called Barry. Eventually he went back to using his birth name, so perhaps Sasha will too some day; or she may decide to continue using her nickname.
