The human race has a pack instinct, like wolves. There is a drive towards sociability, coupled with an irrational fear of 'otherness' that makes people want to imitate each other in order to feel safe within a social group. Another explanation is that copying other people is an ingrained habit from infanthood. A small baby will copy the adults in order to learn speech, how to eat, be toilet trained, and later will learn from them how to set up a bank account and cook spaghetti bolognaise. So not all imitation is negative. However mindless clone-like behaviour is a bit silly and should be ignored. I wouldn't worry about it though.

No one knows for sure if dead people can see what you are doing. Some people believe that people with unfinished business become ghosts and can see what you are doing.
