The food you eat is the fuel for your body. Some of that fuel goes into fueling your furnace - the area of the brain that controls body heat. When it is very hot weather, your body "furnace" does not need as much fuel, and your appetite decreases accordingly.
The job of the metabolism is to keep body temperature up, but when it's already warm the body doesn't need that much energy to maintain the body temperature. In other words, we eat less.
