In general, we humans are gifted with the ability to sexualize almost anything. There are folks who are excited by red vinyl, for example. Basically, I think it's so we can increase the chances of having sex. Someone you might not be attracted to might make themselves more attractive by hanging a stethoscope around their neck, for example (or wearing a red vinyl jacket).
Just remember, you should be more interested in the person than the stethoscope -- you should control the fetish, it should not control you!
