Because we like to be proud of our country.
Actually most Canadians have not thought of this question. Canada is a Confederation of many Nations and cultures and as a result there is no one Canada to be celebrated. When Canadians celebrate Canada, like they do on Canada day, it is their own Canada they are proud and thankful for as well as the Confederation which has been very successful.
