It can be. Many people can have a seizure and exhibit no outward signs other than standing still looking a bit confused. But the type of seizure seen on TV certainly does happen.

Can cleaning may you go into a seizure?

There is no particular reason why cleaning should make someone have a seizure. Stress and strain can be a trigger for some people, but work like cleaning should not do so. More likely fatigue or even watching television would trigger a seizure.

Why is an epileptic shock?

It is possible to die from an epileptic seizure, but it is extremely rare. It would have to be a very severe seizure to do that. You can die indirectly as a result of a seizure, like if you fell from a high place as a result of a seizure or were engaged in some other dangerous activity and had a seizure. This is why people with epilepsy are not advised to drive. Having a seizure while driving could result in a crash and the death of the driver. The death would be a result of the crash, not the seizure itself. Most seizures in themselves are not dangerous. They may cause a temporary loss of conciousness. For most situations that is not a problem and the seizure will pass and the person will recover. That is what happens for the vast majority of people who have seizures. They lead very normal and long lives.

Can antibiotics cause a grand mal seizure?

Short answer- Yes, in general antibiotics may cause a grand mal seizure. Long answer- In any specific case, maybe. People who are sick and getting antibiotics are more likely to have a seizure from the underlying illness, and potentially the associated fever. There is a concept of a seizure threshold. Think of the brain like a pot of water, and a seizure like boiling. Anything that raises the temperature (metaphorically) increases the chances of having a seizure. These can include generally being sick, a high fever, electrolyte abnormalities, genetic propensity, and certain medications. Also medications can interfere with the metabolism of seizure medications and in some people the infection involves the brain, and can cause seizures. Some antibiotics (but not all) are known to lower the seizure threshold, and have a slight increase in the number of seizures, usually a few patients in every thousand treated. Justin Montanye, MD

What are the 3 stages of a grand mal seizure?

1) Prodrome phase (in which visual auras can be experienced or, in some cases, olfactory hallucinations). 2) Ictal phase (in which the seizure activity, itself, occurs). 3) Post-ictal phase (in which the individual does not usually remember the events that occurred just prior to and during the seizure).

Can people lose memory after having a seizure?

For most people with epilepsy their memory and ability to concentrate is not affected. Epilepsy only directly affects a person when they are having a seizure. For the majority of the time their epilepsy has no affect on them. If someone has a more severe case of epilepsy or are also suffering from another condition that affects the brain, then they would be likely to have more problems.

What could be wrong if your daughter says her ears and nose feel like they are bleeding before having a seizure?

Most people that have a seizure disorder have an "aura" proir to the seizure. This is different for everyone, can be a smell, or an odor, or flashing lights, but it is a warning sign that a seizure is about to happen. Assuming she has had hear ears and nose checked by a doctor and there is no problem this could be the situation. Also, if she has not had a CAT Scan or MRI of her brain to look for problems this should be done to be thorough.

What is the worst kind of seizure and what does it do?

A Grand Mal seizure is the most serious kind. Some people would get very serious ones. These would involve people losing consciousness, falling and serious shaking of the body and possibly people getting physically sick. There is the potential to be physically injured while having a Grand Mal seizure, through pulling muscles or hitting into something. If someone has one in a dangerous location, like if they were climbing, they could seriously injure themselves.
