1) Prodrome phase (in which visual auras can be experienced or, in some cases, olfactory hallucinations).

2) Ictal phase (in which the seizure activity, itself, occurs).

3) Post-ictal phase (in which the individual does not usually remember the events that occurred just prior to and during the seizure).

There is no simple answer to that, as people experience different types of seizures. The first part is normally what is known as an aura. This is the first indication that a seizure is coming, and often acts as a brief warning to the person that they may be about to have a seizure. Sometimes nothing happens after that and a full seizure doesn't happen. Other times it will develop into a full seizure. There is not a single kind of aura. The nature of an aura will be different for different people. It may be a strange sensation, like a shudder through the body, or it could be focused in one particular region, like having a funny taste in their mouth, or it could have other forms.

If a full seizure does happen after the aura, like everything in epilepsy, it will be different for different people. They may go semi-conscious, they may start talking to themselves, they may start shaking, they may fall and so on. Different things can happen. A seizure may be very brief, or could last a bit longer. Some people may have successive seizures. When a seizure does stop, people will slowly come back to normal. They may be very tired or disoriented or sore after their seizure. Again, this will be different for different people and it will depend on the nature and severity of seizure they have had. Any individual will also have different kinds of seizures. So the same person could have a very serious one on some occasions and at other times have a very minor one.

How long does the average seizure last?

You are most likely asking about a convulsive seizure commonly known as a grand mal seizure. There is no set period of time. Seizures may last a few seconds or several minutes. Commonly they last about 1 to 3 minutes, but have been known to last much longer in severe cases. There are also many types of seizures. They are no longer limited to just grand mal and petit mal. In fact those two terms given way to more descriptive terms relating to the actual type of seizure involved. The lengths of time for the various types of seizures also varies according to the specific type involved.

Why your dog poops and starts to shiver and doesn't want to move he sit for about 2 to 3 minutes .?

The next time this happens, try to get a video of it on your smart phone. In my opinion, this sounds like a petit mal seizure and your dog may be epileptic. You should also take your dog to your veterinarian, particularly if your dog is having numerous episodes. Seizures are more commonly thought of along the grand mal type - collapse to the floor, powerful uncontrollable muscle spasms and muscle rigor, unconciousness of the person undergoing the seizure, etc. Dogs can have seizures too, and most people think of similar things happening during a seizure. However, a grand mal seizure is only the worst (and most obvious) type of seizures - there are three others, including petit mal.

Is amnesia a long-term effect of epilepsy?

It is possible, simply because when one experiences a seizure, they are often convulting and their head is banging against the ground. This can lead to a series of head traumas Please, if you are going to answer a question that the general public read, research it first. Your answer is really naive. Yes, you can get head trauma from a fall through a seizure. Sometimes a head trauma can actually be the original cause of epilepsy. Amnesia can be associated with many drugs taken to control seizures but also, after a seizure almost all patients do not remember what happened before during the post ictal phase and afterwards. Memory problems are a common issue for many epileptics on seizure medications or for people with TBI and seizures. Edit: *** I have seizures and everytime I wake up from a Grand-Mal seizure I have no idea what happened or what happened 3 months before. Also I've hit my head on the ground and cut it open a few times from a Petite-Mal seizure and I don't know what happened. So to answer your question yes.***

Will ultram stop methadone withdrawl symptmoms?

DO NOT TAKE ULTRAM/TRAMADOL WHILE ON, OR COMING OFF OF METHADONE! You can, and probably will have a Grand Mal Seizure (Which is Very Bad)! How do I know this? It happened to me 3 times! I finally found out from my Methadone clinic that you can't mix the 2, or take Ultram while coming off of Methadone. It is a HORRIBLE experience! Please heed my advice! You can DIE!
