People settle in New lands to simply get away from old lands that the do not like there are many reasons people settle in New lands it could be something that's going on in their old land that's making them annoyed so they move to a new land.

people settle and live in any particular place usually to be near jobs and family members. another reason people would do that would be for protection from the elements, like severe weather. they could just go to where ever they live for protection.
