When further in-breeding occurs, these traits will be less noticeable. One parent who has very dark skin marries and has a child with a person with very light skin, the child will have a skin color that is between one or the other. If the darker skin gives an advantage in very sunny areas, that color will become more common over time. Of course, we will also "put our two cents in" by selecting one skin color over another. So selective breeding will compete with natural selection.
