Originally, people used 'lol' to say that they were "laughing out loud". But now, it has just become a thing to separate sentences or put when they have nothing else to say. LOL Something else you might wonder about. Do you literally Laugh out loud when you type LOL. Around 90% of the people who type out LOL on the computer don't literally laugh out loud. I notice LOL is overused. I think it shows a social nervousness that can be taken as friendly or derisive depending on the context.

well you could put haha, or lol, which stands for laugh out loud. There's also rofl which stands for rolling on the floor, or roflmao: rolling on the floor laughing my a** off!
