We hope for the future to be safe and filled with happiness, after all, we sing to show strong emotion, and in the case of the Star Spangled Banner we sing the pride of our country for the whole world to hear.

Second, Jimi was a vet and served in the 101st Airborne, which is volunteer duty, which means he was no hippie idiot who didn't know what patriotism is about, he served and earned the right to play that song any way he wanted.
