People think that ghosts intend to scare them because they are afraid of ghosts. It is a type of projection; the person is afraid and so "projects" that fear outside himself onto the thing causing the fear, and in that manner decides that the thing means to frighten.

If you have a recorder or instrument use that! Play as loud as you can on the instrument. Ghost are afraid and sick of sound. (i think)
