Women's roles began to change in the 1920's because during WWI many took jobs and did not want to give up an income when he war was over. Women were beginning to gain more financial freedom and independence. The roaring twenties was also a good economical time for the country.

One of the paradoxes can be the alcohol issue where, the country at the beginning of the 1920s was supporting prohibition of alcohol sales and by the end of the 1920s the people showed much hypocrisy and switched their views on prohibition which turned out as a huge failure. The part of paradox would come from the hypocrisy of people and the quick change of mindset based on prohibition.
There where many inventions in the 1920s as it was a time of change but 2 big ones are the car and insulin. I also think that crayobs were invented in the 1920s.
There was really no drastic change but I guess it might have helped if companies were to have advertised jobs that were available people could better support their families.
