They have a magnesium deficiency.

Magnesium is a mineral that is important in making chlorophyll (the green pigment that makes leaves green.) So a lack of it means that the leaves go yellow.

Oncidium leaves turn yellow due to a natural process of loosing old growth. If the oncidium is in full sun, yellowing can be causd by too much sun. If you have had it for more than two years and leaves turn yellow it may be time to repot it. Rotting medium causes a nitrogen deficiency and causes yellowing of leaves

Why do the leaves of plants become yellow or pale green when they are kept in the dark?

If they are over or under watered they can turn yellow. But if kept in the dark they turn yellow because the chlorophyll (which gives plants its green hue) is unable to absorb energy from light to start the process of photosynthesis. If your plants are turning yellow, try and find a sunnier spot, or get a lamp for it.

Why leaves are said to be excretophores?

Leaves are said to be excretophores because in the uptake of nutrients delivered from soil through root tips, through stems and into the leaf, nutrients become part of the leaf. Having absorbed the nutrients, the leaf develops by way of photosynthesis. Having developed and having remained attached to the plant for awhile, the leaf detaches from the plant, (or is excreted) taking the ingested nutrients (that may even include contaminants) with it as it falls from the plant.
