The process of Photosynthesis is triggered by the sun. The sun is stronger in summer and the temperatures are warmer - the cells metabolisim is increased
to maintain there surface cool through more more transpiration.
Plants that grow in LEAVES are KATAKA-TAKA plants
You can transplant the iris in late summer. If you don't want any more iris, mow them after they flower. But if you want the iris to come back again, don't mow them at all. The leaves need to gather more sunlight to be able to make more flowers.
The leaves allow the plant to absorb sunlight and use it to make food (Photosynthesis) as well as allowing it to release excess moisture through pores in the leaves.
For some plants, the brown leaves slow the growing of the plant since brown leaves are basically dead leaves, but for most plants, people just cut them off because it looks more presentable that way. Usually they can live and grow with the brown leaves still there.
Plants with needles/ Xerophytes
Bluebells are deciduous plants that only need their leaves to produce food during the summer when there is more sunlight
Plants need to lose leaves in the fall because the leaves are very dry. In the winter, plants already have all their leaves lost in the fall, but they can't grow back because it is too cold. In the spring, it gets warmer so leaves can grow back. In the summer, a few leaves die because they are too hot and too dry.

Something like they need leaves for photosynthesis
yes or they are dead. the leaves give us oxygen. unless if its a new tree plants need leaves
Dahlias have leaves. Plants need leaves to convert sunlight into energy.

They don't need to but they will appear more healthier and more fuller! I recommend spray and grow from HSN. Plants do ok without micronutrients but if you apply twice a month during spring and summer they will look more green and more health looking.
