A slow current could be due to the width of the river: rivers that are quite wide tend to have slower current, or current that seems slow to the person watching on its banks. Shallowness may also contribute to the slowness, as well as dams upstream or the fact that the river is drying up.

It could also be due to perception. It may seem slow, but if scientifically measured during the time of spring melt or spring run-off with waters being fed by the mountains, versus the time that rivers are running quite low, it may not actually be slow at all.

Why there is somany rivers in kerala?

There are 44 rivers in Kerala. 41 of the rivers flow westward and the other 3 flow east. Many of the rivers are fed by monsoons and made into rivulets. Some rivers are not big in length and many dry out in summers months. The monsoons may play a huge role behind so many rivers existing in Kerala.

What makes a river burst its banks?

As rivers flow, tiny stones flow with it, erodingthe banks(sides) of the river. This causes river to expand in width and sometimes forms gorges.Sometimes there is excess water absorbed in the banks and the mudbecomesloose due to trees being cut down so their roots cant hold the mud together, thus causing the banks to burst.
