Sloths and Sleep Although sloths do sleep a lot- anywhere from 10-20 hrs a day, 4 or 5 of those hours the sloth is actually awake, but motionless. This is a defense mechanism used to keep predators (such as eagles) away.

Even so, sleeping for an average 15 hrs a day is still a lot, but sloths have a very slow metabolism They live off of leaves and vegetation, digest slowly (they have one of the lowest body temperature of any mammal) and they only go to the bathroom once a week. Moore said, and they only use the bathroom once a week (they leave the tree to go to the bathroom, so the less bathroom time equals higher chance o survivability).

The main reason why sloths sleep so much is because when you are that cute, it just becomes exhausting.

Say things that are true. Fix spelling mistakes. Say why they sleep a lot and not as a joke because so people might believe it (like children).
