Almost an AnswerPeople who are Jewish by nationality have various beliefs. This is their free right and choice, given them (I believe) by almighty God. Many are secular Jews and do not believe in God, or at least do not follow Judaism. Some Jewish people have also accepted Jesus Christ of Nazareth as the Messiah. This does not automatically wipe out their national identity as Jews, just as it didn't in the first days of Christianity. Most of the first Christians were Jews. Probably all of Jesus' original disciples were Jews.

It would seem to be a rather extreme view which suggests that believing in Jesus as the Messiah automatically causes a person to cease to be Jewish. This is something they are by natural birth, although some extreme elements would wish to disown them as Jews.

Comment on Above:There are Jews who have various Jewish beliefs, and this is fine,

but Judaism and Christianty are two compleatly separate belief systems.

A Jew cannot belive that Jesus is the Messiah in the same way a Christian cannot belive that Jesus is not the Messiah.

one of the core beliefs in Judaism is that there is one god (from the rambams principals of Faith).

Any person who was Jewish and accepts Jesus as the Messiah should not call themselves "Jewish", but should practice as "Christians", primarily because belief in Christ (or any other god) is contradictry to Jewish View.(as we can't follow other religions, if we did we would be cut off from the Jewish people and the world to come [from the Tulmud, Tractate Sanhedrin page 90 a])

also, though Jesus my be the Messiah for the Christains, he is invalid as the Messiah for the Jews, (ie. we cannot accept him as the messiah)

A Jew who belives in other Religions gods has seporated him/herself compleatly from Judaism. Also when a Jew accepts Messiah form another religion, that is invalid for Judaism (ie. Jesus), he rejects some Core Jewish Beliefs as well as attaching himself to another religion. This is one of the Extreme elements (from A Jewish point of View) that disown him/her as a Jew.

so Yes "believing in Jesus as the Messiah automatically causes a person to cease to be Jewish"

AnswerFor many people the term "Jewish" refers not only to the religion, but also the society. Indeed, the term "Jew" comes from Judaism, which in turn comes from Judah, one of the sons of Jacob (a.k.a. Israel). Those of Jewish descent, or those who chose to adopt the ways of the Jewish people, felt the association was important, especially during the long periods when the Jews were dispersed across the globe without a homeland. Only since 1948 has there really been a distinction between a Jew and an Israeli, for example.

Someone of Jewish descent, or who chooses to follow Jewish customs, or who has some similar connection to the Jewish people, choose to call themselves Jewish even after they accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. They see no conflict or dischord in uniting the two terms, because, to them, being a Jew and being a Christian means far more than merely being a part of some religious body.

concluion:even though in the Jewish religion it is a contradiction to be Christian, In the christian Religion (ie. anyone who accepts Christ) it is not a contridiction to do things of other religions, even though they do not accept that religion as theirs (due to technical resons of that religion).

Note: It is impossible to be compleatly Jewish and observe any part of any other religion.

Any Jew that is trully Jewish cannot accept christ. But a christian may accept Jewish values even though they cannot be Jewish, and even though Judaism rejects there belief.

Answer 1

All Jewish people believe in Christ (not Jesus) Christ just means anointed all kings were anointed as were prophets that spoke the true words of God. God has anointed many messengers to do his will at certain times these are his anointed servants. there are many Christs.

Answer 2

The above fails to note that Jews do not use the word "Christ" to denote the Line of David (for which they use the term "Messianic Line") and do not consider the prophets to be anointed at all. (The anointment was a physical act as described in 1 Samuel 16:13.) The term Christ, is a Greek term, and as such it is only used by Jews who accept the Messianic Character of Jesus. Messianic Jews accede to the Christian claims and understanding of Jesus and as such revere him for the same general reasons that Christians do: salvation, leadership, heavenly kingdom, redemption, etc. Messianic Jews, however, are pariahs in the overall Jewish community and rejected as Jews overwhelmingly by other Jewish sects.

Why do Gentile Christians and Jewish Christians fight?

'True Christians' do not fight. So if some Gentiles and some Jews call themselves 'christian'; and if they engage in war; then just maybe they are not 'christian' in the first place.God allowed the Israelites to fight and engage in warfare. But Jesus changed all that. 'True' christians would follow in his footsteps.About one group of genuine Christians, The Sacramento, California, Union commented: "Suffice it to say that if all the world lived by the creed of the Jehovah['s] Witnesses there would be an end of bloodshed and hatred, and love would reign as king."-July 9, 1965.
