Luck is something people have been trying to understand and control as long as they have been aware.
We like to try to see patterns in the ordinary and everyday occurrences of our lives. It takes the need to take responsibility for our own actions off our shoulders and places it firmly on the gods/fates/luck.
It is so much easier just to say, "I am unlucky" or "I'm having a run of bad luck" than to admit you are distracted, not paying attention, or just making bad decisions.

∙ 10y agoLuck is derived from perception of circumstance weighed against expected events. Good luck is when things go as expected and the expected is positive to the believer of luck. Bad luck is the opposite.
Yes, some people have bad luck because sometimes people forget to consider all variables involved in a situation but, still have high hopes for it.
