People have to wear glasses because some peoples eyesight's are weaker and they cant see very well.
You wear glasses, or contact lenses, to correct vision that is not as good as it ought to be. That lets you see clearly at a distance, or nearby, depending on the type of vision defect you have.

∙ 13y agoIt is required when a person started having symptoms like having blurry, faces difficulty in driving, can't focus, seeing double, closing one eye while reading, eye strain, headaches etc. To avoid all these problems eyeglasses are needed.

∙ 8y agoMainly because the muscles in the eyes get weaker with age. Weak muscles may fail to focus the image correctly on to the optic nerve. Spectacles help to refocus correctly, so allowing us to see clearly (until our next eye testing changes our spectacle prescription and means new spectacles).

no, i don't think so that wearing glasses is geeky. even i too wear glasses. according to me the person who wears glasses is considered to be very smart and intelligent. even some people wants to wear glasses because they think that wearing glasses is fashion and it looks very attractive. even if you are wearing frame according to your complexion and face, you also look very beautiful or handsome. so, i don't think that wearing glasses is geeky.
