MY VIEW The reasons may vary between individuals, but for me, it's a religious issue. The question of the origion of Valentine's Day is answered differently, depending on who you ask, but according to the World Book Encyclopedia, "the customs connected with the day . . . probably come from an ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia which took place every February 15. The festival honored Juno, the Roman goddess of women and marriage, and Pan, the god of nature."-(1973), Vol. 20, p. 204. Therefore, because of the holiday's customs that are rooted in pagan religion, I do not celebrate Valentine's Day. For me, sharing in anything pagan would amount to compromising my allegience to God.
Because they think it is a holiday for celebrating the devil.
Halloween or to give it its correct name All Hallows Eve was a Pagan celebration which the Christian Churches originally felt was against their faith. Many churches don't protest the modern version which is just about kids and candy, but others still do.

Others would think that the sentiments surrounding the day to be something that should be celebrated everyday, not just one day a year. They might dislike Valentine's day because it is too limiting.
