Why do some people say the issues of World War 2 have never been truly resolved?

Never been resloved? Wasn't the aim of the war to defeat Germany, Italy and Japan and to liberate the oppressed people under the occupation of the above mentioned countries?
Germany, Italy and Japan where defeated. Their governments toppled and replaced with democratic ones. Elections where able to take place. The countries were rebuilt and we made sure no aftermath of that of WWI happened.
