  • For as long as man has been it has been considered that opposite sexes couple to reproduce.
  • Ignorance and fear from heterosexuals.
  • Religion is another factor. Although the word 'gay' is not mentioned in The Bible it does say that man shall not lay with man, nor woman with woman. Even in the gay community some gays are fighting their own guilt because of Christians leading them down the path of fear that if they don't change their ways then God will banish them as 'His children.'
  • The upside of all of this is that scientists feel they have found a gene that decides if that person is gay or not. It is being studied now and a paper will be written on it soon.

No matter if we are straight or gay we must remain true to ourselves. My own opinion as a Christian is that God didn't give me all the answers and since I'm not perfect (even though I'm not gay) I have no right to label another. I do believe the God I believe in considers us all his children. With that said I think to be divided from one another out of ignorance, fear and not getting to know someone different than ourselves weakens who we are as a human race and weakens the sum of all humanity.

AnswerBecause people are close minded.

It isn't.

The idea that it's "bad" comes from the misconception that there is only a limited number of sperm cells and that it's "bad" to "waste" them. That's ridiculous -- the average ejaculation includes hundreds of thousands of sperm cells.

Some people say homosexuality is "bad" because they are trying to deny their own feelings, or because they are looking for someone else to blame for their own failures.

Some people say homosexuality is bad because they're trying to get people to give them money, or votes.

And some people say homosexuality is bad because they don't know what they're talking about.
Well, from a religious standpoint, yes: homosexuality is a sin. The Bible says in Leviticus 20:13 that if a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, they both have created an abomination. The Bible goes on to say in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10: Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. So, in my opinion, from a religious standpoint, homosexuality is wrong; however, God also says in 1 Peter 4:8, Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. I do my best to love everyone, but that doesn't mean I have to like what everyone does. Like your parents; they always love you, but they don't approve of EVERY decision you make. Overall, I think that it is a decision that you personally have to make based on your own views and opinions.
No. Being gay is a neutral and natural thing. Things you are born with cannot be good or bad. It is also not bad for a gay person to find love and companionship, just like anyone else in the world.

Nowadays, there's a lot of male gay who enjoy their sex life to the fullest. They prefer this sex orientation because thinking that it's okay for them and partners too. Well, for them, doing this sex act doesn't matter for what other people may say, as long as they're not intruding with their own lives.

They often have the following objections:

1. They may believe the religious objections against it. But not all religions oppose gay behavior.

2. They may believe it goes against nature, since gay sex does not produce children, and they may believe that every act of sex should be done with the fear of pregnancy. Of course, some animals in nature do things that appear to be homosexual acts.

3. They may have logical or philosophical objections. This crowd usually makes a distinction between gay people and gay behaviors. When they object, it is nearly always in the abstract, and they usually mean hypothetical gay people, not real gay people. They speak against it as a theory or a course of study and don't mean their words to be taken on a personal level.

4. They may believe it is unsanitary or see homosexuals as being more prone to promiscuity. Of course, any unprotected sex, particularly among promiscuous persons is unsanitary. Also, anyone of any orientation can be promiscuous or have unprotected sex.

5. They may believe stereotypes and bad ideas about LGBTs. For instance, some believe LGBT persons are more likely to molest children. They may also believe gayness is a complete choice. So if they think someone chooses to be something that causes them to mess with children, then of course they will be against them. Some may believe that bisexual people have to have a partner of both genders at the same time. That belief may lead them to believe that bisexual people are more promiscuous or more likely to sexually harass others.

6. They may believe it is an unnecessary choice, and that the element of choice somehow makes it immoral. But many things are choices, such as religion, using hair color, getting tattoos, etc.

7. Some are just bigoted. They may even believe that gayness is inborn, but they still hate gay persons.

We live in a very sheltered society, in my personal opinion. Gay people have been looked down upon throughout the ages as well. In previous centuries, gay people were a disease and often considered abnormal.

It's a very touchy topic for some gay people, but as a gay man myself and having seen the abuse of gay people throughout time, I can honestly say that it is changing. If you look into the Charlie Howard case, he was brutally assaulted in Maine and thrown off of a bridge in Bangor in 1984. In terms of history, this really isn't that long ago.

Keep in mind as well that some major religions contribute to the hate-crimes and hate for homosexuality. Many religions look down upon homosexuality, including the Roman Catholic and most branches of the Christian religion. In Christianity, it is a sin punishable by eternal torture (burning in hell isn't exactly a play date).

People were often burned at the stake for being gay as well (not just witches). The actual reason people think being gay is wrong is contributed to by religion and other events in the past.

Also keep in mind that a lot of things that society has coined "wrong" do eventually become "okay" or have been "okay" in the past. Homosexuality is slowly growing on people and it is a lot better than it was in the past.

Keep in mind, for the longest time slavery was deemed okay, but society has changed and now to enslave someone in the United States is very improper. We must also think of your location when answering this question. Some countries and even some cities/states are more accepting of gay people than others. Society plays the largest role in this, and is contributed to by religion.

Being gay is not bad. In fact, people don't have a choice about it, just as they don't have a choice about being straight.

Are there negative effects of homosexuality?

There are no directly negative effects of homosexuality just as there are no directly negative effects of heterosexuality. However, many homosexual and bisexual people suffer persecution and/or a lack of acceptance. Bigotry towards homosexuals is believed to be the leading cause of teen suicide. Bigotry towards homosexuals also causes persecution that can result in verbal abuse, hate crimes, and/or the denial of rights and privileges afforded to heterosexuals. On the bright side, gay rights movements are gaining ground globally.
