Some straight people say this. They don't want to think that gays are confident and capable, because then they would have to change all their misconceptions. Most people think that if something is far from there way of thinking or there societies way of thinking then its morally wrong.

Because it can be very emotional and embarrassing for some people. Society tells us to all be straight. Which isn't how it always works. Some parents may not understand and kids may think they will be judged for it. Some people are very against gays bisexuals and lesbians. If the kid feels the need to tell his or her parents then they should. It may help them see there is nothing wrong with not being straight. Love is love.
