If you've experienced a rise in coffee prices at your local Starbucks, it may be due to this, spurred by an increase in the material costs and the desire to retain the same or similar profit margins. If you're traveling to another city and notice the prices there are different, this is also normal. Different cities have different water costs, minimum wage rates, etc., so stores in different cities often differ in prices.
