Many tampon brands have an X in the name: Tampax, Playtex, Kotex, and Maxim. One reason is that females usually have two x chromosomes, thus the 'x' is to represent females. It is also likely that because of the popularity of Tampax brand the 'x' has become associated with tampons, thus other brands use this by creating brands that sound like tampon brands, by using an 'x' in the name.

Can you lose a tampax in you?
Going swimming won't cause the tampon to get lost in your body. The vagina is a dead end, and the tampon has nowhere to go.
Is it bad when your tampon string gets bloody but your tampon is only a little bloody?
Your tampon should be completely saturated with blood after 4-6 hours - if the tampon is dry when removing then you need to use a lower absorbency or switch to pads. If the string is getting blood on it some may be from blood lingering in the vaginal canal before tampon insertion, but it may also be that blood is simply bypassing the tampon.
