Due to the fact that WikiAnswers' answers can be answered or edited by anyone, teachers assume some answers are false or contains inappropriate language. Some answers are not detailed enough or misinterpret the question through different contexts. Other teachers would rather have you learn the material on your own, rather than being just handed the answers, as knowledge worked for is retained better and easier to recall during tests.

Why does teachers tell us not to go on WikiAnswers?
teachers tell us not to go on because this isn't considered a "reliable database" . when doing research and such you should go on websites that will give you valid information and are proofed by the big-wig scientists guys . Basically anyone can come on here and answer anything however they want, so you might also get a wrong answer . also, you would want something that you can get an easy citation for. This will be hard and a database that the school provides for you will be better. and yes, im a student. it is pretty annoying but pays off in the long run .
