Why do teenage girls and woman have greater need for iron than men and teenage boys?

There's probably more than one reason, though I know at least one is because during a girl's menstural cycle she tends to loose a lot of iron and most don't do anything to build it back up so it often affects them through the whole of the month.

∙ 12y agowell for onething , the periods you lose blood during them , second a girls body is richer than boys girls need lot of more minerals and vitamins for good health , mostly its because of your periods. healthy blood needs lots of iron . !!! :)
