Arterioles can increase and decrease their resistance in response to changes in cardiac output in order to maintain blood pressure. Increased cardiac output will cause arterioles to correspondingly decrease their resistance (thus increasing their compliance) so blood pressure remains unchanged.

Which blood vessel offer most resistance to blood flow?

Arterioles generally have the highest resistance because they are so extremely small.

What is main site of peripheral resistance?

arterioles offer maximum peripheral resistance .Skin and skeletal muscle blood vessels represent most imp. site of peripheral resistance.

What are arterioles and what are capillaries?

Arteioles are blood vessels that connect arteries and capillaries. Capillaries are blood vessels that connect arterioles and venules

Which vessels are called capacitance vessels?

Veins are considered capacitance vessels because they collect 60-70% of the blood in systemic circulation. Small arteries and arterioles are considered resistance vessels because they represent where pressure is more greatly reduced.

What connects blood vessels to arteries?

Arterioles.

When there is increased resistance then arteriolar constriction and pressure drops?

Resistance changes dramatically with changes in diameter of blood vessels (arterioles are one type of blood vessel). If you INCREASE the diameter of the arteriole, you DECREASE the resistance and thus DECREASE the blood pressure.

Arterioles.

arterioles

the arterioles

What are the functions of arterioles?

Arterioles are small blood vessels that carry oxygenated blood to the body tissues.
