If it is a loud screeching noise it is because they are loose and need to be tightened up, and or they are old and worn out
A glazed belt can make that noise. Try rubbing a bar of soap on the belts and start it up. If the noise goes away temporarily, replace the belts.
Could be one of your belts.
i think the "swishing noise" you mean is casued by the belts turning on the puleys , you can check this by squirting a little wd40 on the belts as its running and the noise should go away for a short time .
Whining noise near belts had pulleys adjusted any idea what is causing this
When a timing belt is going bad it can make a high-pitched screeching sound. It can sound like a high-pitch whirring noise. Not all timing belts make a noise when they are worn or going bad.
The belts generally don't make a whining noise. They squeak. The whine is probably the tensioner or the alternator. Listen closely you should be able to tell where the noise is coming from. You can also take off the belt and roll each component and feel for bearing crunching.
many many things, Loose lug nuts which lets wheel make knocking noise. Engine will make a knocking noise if it is really low on oil. Some timing belts make a knocking, slapping noise just before they break. These are just a few examples . Have someone ride in car with you as you duplcate the noise and see if they can determine which part of the vehicle it is coming from.
It will drive you "nuts" eh? I know, with the junk I drive, it's the least of my worries- but- go to the parts store, and ask them for a can of belt dressing to quiet your drive belts. Just follow the directions on the can.
I just got a new power steering pump and my car is making a screeching sound, even after I changed the belts. What noise does yours make
drive belts tensioner/under chassis
Cracked Fly Wheel
it could be a wheel bearing that is bad or it could also be busted belts inside a tire
