It is a matter of moisture. Grasslands have lower moisture levels and climates that do not support trees. Trees do however grow along creeks and rivers that pass through grasslands.

Which biome is characterized by temperate grasslands and grazing animams?

well there is grass and rather tall trees but not very hot and gets an average amount of rain.About one fifth of the Earth's land once had a cover of grass. Any more, the land would become a forest. Any less, the land would become a desert.Characteristics about grasslands is that there is wheat growing there mostly, and that the special animals such as the prairie Dog is rare.By:shanzayTemperature is the factor that maintains the characteristic plant community of temperate grasslands.

How are grasslands and tundra biomes similar?

Well, grassland biomes don't exactly have enough nutrients to grow big trees, and it's the same deal with the tundra, because the tundra has a layer of permafrost, so you can't grow much either. I myself am working on that question :D I don't really know all the similarities, but I hope what I said before helped.

What is the importance of the temperate grassland biome?

well some people say, oh a grassland is a land covered in grass. well no really. way to point out the obvious. a temperate grassland summed up has fertile soils that are able to support quick cover of grasses. drough, grazing animals, and fires keep grasslands from becoming forests. it is home to a wide variety of plants. the grassland parks are normally very large parks with nothing much to see, just alot of flat land with grass and animals. there are few shrubs and trees that support the organisms/animals that live there. if the temperature dropped the grassland would turn into a desert, anything above would be a tropical biome. it gets 10-30 inches of rain a year. some say wiki. is a website where anyone can write random things about whatever you pick, and yes that's true. but this, nope:) its all real, because im in biology right now(: thankss.
