There needed to be an affordable way to ship products. Better transportation lowered the cost of manufactured goods.
Transportation options have a huge impact on the way people work, play, and travel. Individuals that own vehicles have few limits to where they can work and have many options for recreation and travel activities. Individuals relying on public transportation must be aware of where and when various transportation options are available, and therefore have many more limits when it comes to travel, commuting to work, and options for recreation.
IF you are not afraid to walk or use a bicycle for your transportation needs, then the distance of where you live to where you work is not a big issue. Generally people that are without motorized forms of transportation do not live beyond 12km or 8 miles.IF you are lazy and require a car for transportation to and from work or the store, then the distance can be much greater. You must take into consideration the amount of time you will be in traffic and on the road, but people often commute an hour or more each way.
