Early television broadcasts were transmitted on VHF (very high frequency) radio channels. They moved to UHF (ultra high frequency) and have remained on that band since. These bands are used for terrestrial broadcasts.

Satellite broadcasts use even higher frequencies.

Why are TV broadcasts in the VHF range easier to receive in areas of marginal reception than broadcasts in the UHF range?

Signals in the VHF frequencies have a tendency to follow the curve of the earth and bend around hills where UHF tends to travel more in a straight line.

What station is Required vhf?

VHF is the more common for tv channels, you are probably thinking UHF

How can you connect an antenna to uhf and vhf to get both uhf and vhf on tv at the same time?

First, you need an antenna that is both uhf and vhf comaptible. Usuaully it will have a pair of rabbit ears (vhf) and a center loop or plate (uhf). Make sure the rabbit ears are completely extended then just re-scan your channels on your digital box or your hdtv.

Is digital tv on both the uhf and vhf spectrum as was analog tv?

Yes

Difference between uhf and vhf?

The frequency. Oddly enough, uhf actually stands for Ultra High Frequency and vfh stands for Very High Frequency. VHF for old TV covered the range 90Mhz to 150Mhz UHF for modern TV covers the range 400Mhz to 800Mhz

Will the new digital signals be in both UHF and VHF?

Digital TV signals are transmitted on VHF starting on channel 2 and ending at the top of the UHF spectrum channel 69. At one time the plan was not to use the VHF band but it didn't work out that way.

What's a good antenna for a TV?

Getting a VHF antenna will allow the TV to have a strong signals and get the programs that you would need. Also, UHF could be another alternative to VHF.

TV will not get more than 11 channels?

Go to the tuner menu and change the setting to UHF/VHF.

What does vhf and uhf mean?

Very High Frequency and Ultra High Frequency. They are ranges of frequencies of radio waves in the electromagnetic spectrum. VHF ranges from about 30MHz to 300MHz, UHF is from about 300MHz to 3GHz. They are further subdivided into bands for; marine, amature, and other 2 way radio use, also designated channels for television and radio broadcast stations, as well as other uses throughout the world. In the US on the now defunkt analog television system VHF channels were 2-13 UHF channels were 14-83.

Did old televisions have cable plugs?

No. They had two screws for VHF and two screws for UHF. The screws were for the two wires from each antenna.

Can a uhf antenna pick up vhf signals as well?

Yes, a UHF antenna can pick up VHF signals, but not well. The size difference makes the uhf antenna "inefficient" for the longer vhf wave length, but some energy can be received by the uhf antenna.

Why the upper band of vhf frequency is considered as uhf frequency?

Different people see the boundar between VHF and UHF differently. I tend to regard UHF as starting at 200 Mhz.
