because all the particles are heated up and are moving very fast, making the water less dense than .1 Then as it moves away from the heat it gets cooler and the particles come together making it .1 density so it sinks in with all the other water.

Why do warm ocean currents cool as they flow along a coastline away from the equator?

Warm ocean currents cool as they flow along a coastline away from the equator because sand and minerals are transported by ocean currents away from the equator.

Ocean currents moving away from the equator bring what waters?

Ocean currents moving away from the equator bring warm waters.

The surface ocean currents move heat energy away from where?

the equator

What is the surface currents north of the equator are?

Because of the spinning of the Earth, wind and ocean currents closest to the equator will travel straighter. Wind and ocean currents further from the equator will deflect away from the equator.Ê

Which two ocean currents are both warm currents that primarily flow away from the equator?

Alaska current and Falkland current

What is transported when warm ocean currents cool as they flow along the coastline away from the equator?

Water

Do warm currents flow toward the equator or away?

What are surface curents?

ocean currents that lead away from the equator. Examples: Gulf Stream and Brazil Current

How does the unequal heating of Earth's surface affect the ocean currents?

It affects ocean currents because the sun hits the equator directly unlike towards the poles where they get less sun because they are farther away.

Do water temperatures tend to cool off as you move away from the equator?

Yes, but remember certain ocean currents carry warm water from the equator to cooler regions and vice versa. Convection currents create chaos. XD

What does the ocean move away from the equator?

Describe the temperature of the currents that flow away from the equator and explain why they are this way?

Heating by the sun near the equator makes the water there warm. In the polar regions, the water is cold. Cold water weighs more than warm and as a result, the warm waters of the equator drift toward the poles. The cold wear from the poles then flows toward the equator to replace the warm water that is leaving.
