Fairtrade is a charitable scheme that aims to ensure that farmers who grow crops for crops for consumption in the West get a fair price for their goods. As massive supermarket chains have continued to grow- Walmart, Tesco etc, they have forced down the rice of goods like bananas, cocoa, etc.

Fairtrade makes farmers work together at selling their goods, thus increasing their profits as the cost on middlemen is reduced. This money they can reinvest in new tools or educating their children. Therefore, Fairtrade is one of the best ideas ever invented in terms of alleviating the poverty of farmers in Less Economically Developed Countries (LEDC's).
