Because it's cheap, easy to fold into the box shape, and it stands up to handling. Also, corrugated cardboard traps air, helping to insulate the Pizza somewhat.

Carboard boxes may be used for a number of things instead of being thrown away. Cardboard boxes may be used to store holiday decorations, arts and crafts, or baby clothing. Additionally, children may use cardboard boxes to make playsets. An individual may also donate their cardboard boxes to friends or family who are moving and need to pack their household items.
Cardboard
About 30% of the cardboard boxes that are used worldwide are normally recycled. People may use the cardboard boxes to store other things or cut the boxes up to use to material in handicraft projects.
would you like it to fly (and for how far ) - or is it simply for display?
They do not need one, but it is a accessory that you can use. Instead of using igloos you can use cardboard boxes such as empty macaroni boxes.
It is easier and cheaper to make square boxes instead of round boxes. The boxes can be shipped flat and quickly folded, and easily stacked. It is also easier to handle a square box than a round box. A few pizza makers do deliver in octagonal boxes, but these are much harder to assemble and save little paper. Traditionally pizzas are round because a ball of kneaded dough is tossed, rolled, or pressed into a layer of equal thinness, which naturally produces a generally circular shape. Some pizzas were always made square or rectangular, and this results in a 27% greater area of pizza for the same width (4r2 versus pi r2).
A lot of people use cardboard boxes and other packaging supplies for shipping, moving, storing, gardening, composting, etc. I know you can find a bunch of free packing boxes on BoxGiver. Hope that helps!

Yes. You can make them out of wood. Make funny shapes to crawl on and chew on. You can make a cardboard box pen for them to play in. One of my pigs loves going threw her plastic tunnel. I also make courses for them. Put newspaper on the floor, put the inside of cardboard boxes facing toward the newspaper. Make sure the cardboard boxes are surronding the newspaper. Put vegtables in some of the cardboard boxes, and some in the middle of the news paper. If your guinea pigs do not want to explore and they just want to stay in one box, move them to a different box, or cut the sides of the cardboard so they can run around more. Great excersize for lilttle pigs.
If you buy the sets then you put them together with the grey plastic connectors, or you can make them from scratch by using thin cardboard or tech deck boxes. first you lightly bend the cardboard and either use ductape or glue and tape it to a tissue box.
