Why do women date sociopaths?

Such questions are hard to answer, as the terms used are rarely accurate. Phrased correctly, it would have to read "Why do all women who have a degree in psychiatry or psychology and who have diagnosed a person as sociopathic, then go ahead and date them?"

The answer being, of course, that none do.

Rather, some women sometimes date some men who have some problems. And some of those men may or may not be sociopathic.

Of course, the definition of sociopathic is broad and diversely defined. It can simply mean having no regard for the feelings and/or opinions of others. In which case Henry David Thoreau was probably the king of sociopaths.

Or people use it to mean psychopath. A word that itself is over abundantly defined, but usually meant to mean "serial killer". This does not make it easy to answer the question.

In short, some women have very low self-esteem and don't value themselves very much, so guys who are not quite right are the only ones they feel they can get. Or, though no one likes to say this, they themselves aren't of much value, and such men are the only ones they can get. A case of the "non-sociopathic men" being taken by the "non-neurotic women", "neurotic" itself an overused and overdefined word.

In any case, with Mr. Right not interested in them, or them not realizing that he would be, they go chasing after Mr. Wrong. Again and again and again.
