I can't begin to understand but I can speculate that they don't want to lose what they have, they don't want to take responsibility for what they have done, they want to have their cake and eat it too, they are trying to get away with something they have done wrong and chances are the time that you may find out was not the first. Some guys are just dogs and lie about it because that is them - only that person themselves knows why they are doing what they have done.

Gosh in my own opinion the reason why men cheat is to prove that they can still do it with another woman. They are tired the way their wife make love to them. Their wife is not exciting anymore. They want to fall in love again.
They lie about it because it excite them. The hiding do make them turn on because he can do it freely. he will lie about it because he loves the way it make him feel like being back in high school. He will lie about it because he doesn't want that part of his life be touch or discover.
