Here's the theory: If women so completely cover their bodies that no hint of their form can be seen, men won't become sexually excited by them. Some might argue that whether they become sexually excited or not, men have the responsibility for their own behavior.

In Islam, however, the woman is the one responsible for the man's behavior, so she has to take measures to control it.

Some Muslim women prefer to wear the burkah, feeling that it gives them some protection from lustful men; others - a growing number - think of it as another symbol of male oppression and only wear it when enforced to.
