There are many divisions made in the human population. One of these is by culture and the Western world does not totally understand or agree with the culture of the Arab world. Among other things, the despotic history of the rule of Muslim cultures is not acceptable to Western cultures. While Western culture has many examples of cruelty and viscious behavior toward other lifestyles, on the whole for the last 200 years or so, Western cultures have determined that the greatest freedoms for the greatest number of people is the best policy. It has been widely reported that Arab states do not accord these freedoms to it's citizens, such as women and religious sects. The fear of Arab world policies comes from fundamentalist Islamic terrorists which have amply demonstrated that freedom for the general populace is not on the agenda. The West lumps Muslim countries together as "Arab" because historically, the conquests of the Middle Ages produced regions which were forcibly converted to the Islamic faith. Such countries today are still having difficulty with human rights that are accepted norms in Western countries. Those countries that accept Muslim rule today for the most part are less technogically advanced and do not wish to participate in global dialogue. Countries such as Afghanistan, Iran, Sudan, and Yemen show that basic freedom and the politics of religion do not integrate well.
