because if there too FAT they will die, meaning there will be alot of blood and calories that could not be burnt if there tail was not chopped off.

∙ 13y agothe tails used to be cut off on certain dogs like a boxer dog etc because these kind of dogs were used for fighting other dogs etc and making bets on them. therefore the tails were removed to stop the dog getting his tail bit!!

In general dogs' tails are not cut off - there is generally a stub of 3-5 vertebrae left when the tail is docked.
Docking is a historical practice that originated in medieval Europe. A "dog tax" was instituted by the government, with an exception for working dogs. To show a dog was a working dog, the tail was docked. This is why many working and herding dogs have breed standards that include a docked tail - historically they were docked to show the dogs were working and therefore exempt from the dog tax.
Today there is no medical or legal reason to have a dog's tail docked - it is the aesthetics of the owner and in some cases the breed requirement for showing dogs.

∙ 13y agoPeople think it looks cuter when dog tails are off.They won't remember it because they are little. People don't seem to care but it's like somebody coming up to you and saying " You would look cuter without your nose! I'm going to cut it off because you won't remember it anyways!" You can think what you want but I think it's cruel. To stop this you need to form a group of people to tell people to stop. That's how they got people to stop declawing cats!
