Each person is different. There is never a correct general answer for this. The best way to figure this out by looking at your own life. Let's say you never had a dad that cared about you, you may want a girlfriend/boyfriend to put in place of the missing father/son or father/daughter relationship. Or maybe you want a girlfriend/boyfriend for sex.
