Why do you have a increase in muscle spasms when you take metformin?

I've been taking metformin for 12 years and I can't say that I've noticed any muscle spasims from using it, but then again no two people react the same way to meds. You would be far better off asking your doctor or your pharmist and see what they have to say as the metformin might not be your problem at all.
