The airbase. RAF Akrotiri, is a base to 'decompress' the soldiers back from Afghan before they go back to UK. It is a strategic point of logistics between Afghan and UK both soldiers and equipment. The army is also there to protect the listening posts which catches radio frequencies and can listen in like a spying device but on a large scale. They look like large nets and are suspended by two large poles.

∙ 11y agoCyprus was part of the British Empire from 1878 until independence in 1960. Part of the agreement was that Britain maintained military bases in Cyprus. The salt lake at Akrotiri made a useful airfield, (something copied after 1974 by the Lanaca Airport).
